紅型について
about Bingata
Bingata (Okinawan: 紅型) is a traditional stenciled resist dyeing technique unique to Okinawa, which dates from the Ryūkyū Kingdom period (c. 14th century). Through trade with Japan, China and other Southeast Asian countries, various culture and dying techniques are mixed together to create an independent style of dye work.
Originally, bingata could be worn only by loyal and samurai families, or dancers who welcomed envoys from China or Edo (today’s Tokyo).
